Pupil Premium

IMG_5948

The Pupil Premium Grant was introduced in April 2011 for pupils in England from low-income families.

For 2020/21 financial years, students who are eligible include;

  • pupils eligible for free school meals at any point in the last 6 years
  • children who have been in local-authority care for 1 day or more
  • children adopted from care under the Adoption and Children Act 2002 and children who have left care under a Special Guardianship or Residence Order
  • pupils recorded as Ever 4 Service Child or in receipt of a child pension from the Ministry of Defence.

The purpose of the grant is to address the underlying inequalities between FSM children and their peers. Children who have been eligible for FSM at any point in the past generally have poorer academic results than those who have never been eligible for FSM.

Schools are free to spend the Pupil Premium as they see fit but will be held accountable for how they have used the additional funding to support pupils from low-income families.
